Partner clinics
The cooperating hospitals of the Vigdis Thompson Foundation
The Vigdis Thompson Foundation has a well-established network of corresponding and cooperating clinics with renowned neurosurgical departments. We collaborate closely with certain hospitals for the treatment of Tarlov cysts and arachnoiditis and refer patients to them. The surgical staff in our cooperating clinics is highly committed to the treatment of patients suffering from these rare diseases and works closely with us to ensure the best possible care.
At the Foundation, we are constantly working on opening up further opportunities for new partnerships in order to continuously expand the range of surgical interventions on a national as well as an international scale. This should open up options to provide patients with faster relief through treatment. Another important goal is to raise attention and awareness as well as scientific knowledge and expertise in regard to the diseases and their treatment methods. In the following there is a list of clinics where patients are currently being operated on for the treatment of Tarlov cysts and arachnoiditis.
Heinrich Braun Clinic, Zwickau
As of October 2023, Tarlov cyst operations have been performed again at the Heinrich Braun Clinic in Zwickau. We reported on the temporary pause in operations at the Zwickau site following the takeover of the Paracelsus Clinic and the eventual resumption of operations. At the Heinrich Braun Clinic, operations are now performed by the Department of Neurosurgery II at the Karl-Keil-Straße site. The responsible chief physician Prof. Dr. med. habil. Michael Luchtmann, who is also a member of our Board of Directors, performs the operations with his team of doctors.
Inselspital Bern, Switzerland
In the summer of 2023, we were able to win another renowned clinic as a partner: Inselspital Bern. Senior physician Dr. Levin Häni is responsible for the treatments there. He also became a new member of the Vigdis Thompson Foundation Board.
Becoming a partner clinic
Our partner clinics offer treatment options for both patients with statutory health insurance and those with private insurance. We are constantly striving to expand our network of cooperating clinics in order to provide more people with access to high-quality treatment. The well-being of patients is always at the core of our efforts. If you have any suggestions for expanding our network of cooperating clinics or would like to become a partner clinic yourself with your medical department, please contact us via info@v-t-f.org.
